It is a medically proven fact that all people dream. There are many different definitions of what dreams are and all of them may be correct or all of them may be completely false. Some say that dreams are the sub-conscious trying to clear up the clutter inside our heads while others say that dreams are our true selves trying to make itself known when our defenses are down in sleep. Whatever the case may be many people have been looking for ways to understand dreams through dream interpretations. They believe that all dreams may hold some meaning that simply needs to be understood.
The idea of dream interpretations is not as new age as some people would like to believe. In the ages of Ancient Greece and Egypt there were seers who believed that dreams were messages sent by the gods to their servants on earth. A dream so vivid that it can be remembered must be a message and it was up to the people to discover its meaning before it was too late. Christianity has many instances where dreams are used to bring a message to the people. One of the most famous examples is the king of Egypt who has the dream of the seven fat cows and the seven lean cows that, when Joseph interprets it, is a warning from God that Egypt was going to face a famine.
Even with this religious evidence, many people still believe that dream interpretations are not worth considering. But consider that famous psychologists like Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Alfred Adler all had their own thoughts on what dreams meant. While all three men differed on the specifics of how the interpretation of dreams is important to the psyche of people, the fact remains that all three believed that dreams were important to the mental health of people. They believed that by interpreting dreams one could understand better what was going on inside a person's mind and that dreams could reveal what the person does not want to.
Today dream interpretations are still being used by some psychiatrists to help diagnose problems that their patients might have. The new age revolution, however, has also brought the interpretation of dreams into the more public sphere. They believe that dreams are not just useful for the mental health of a person but can also be useful in determining the physical, social and spiritual health of a person as well. The interpretation of a person's dreams can help them gain many clues about their life and how to make a success of what they currently undertaking amongst many other interesting theories.
Dream interpretations have been around for millennia. Humanity remains fascinated by dreams and what they mean. Considering how strange and bizarre some dreams are it is not hard to see why. After all, there must be some meaning to that strange, psychedelic dream that keeps repeating itself in your head night after night.
