The Law of Attraction

Motivational gurus have brought to light a number of different ways for people to improve their lives. While the number of different methods out there could easily fill a book to overflowing - indeed several books to overflowing - there are some that are rather more interesting. On the same note some of these ideas also attract a lot of criticism and difficult questions that people find hard to answer. One of these methods that are espoused by many people is the Law of Attraction.

When we say the Law of Attraction we are not referring to the natural process of attracting a mate, though it can certainly be used in this way. It refers to the idea that a person attracts things to himself or herself just by thinking about it. That is, if you think about getting a promotion and extend the intention to get a promotion out there to the universe then you are going to get it because you are attracting it to yourself. Some skeptics will scoff at all this as bunch of mumbo jumbo nonsense, but whether or not the principle is true, it does put one into a correct a positive frame of mind when considering the world around you and your place in it.

But while the Law of Attraction may seem easy there are some difficult parts about that people do not understand. The questions that people often as concern the intentions of what they attract. For example, if something bad happens to you, did you intend it? That is, did you attract something bad because you were thinking about it? If you want the promotion and seek to attract it, but someone else is also trying to get it, which is going to get the promotion? These are difficult questions but they can all be answered by realizing that with the Law of Attraction you need to place yourself in a subjective position to the universe.

What this means is that you should not even consider that there are other people around you. All your intentions are yours and yours alone. The intentions of others are not important since they are concerned with their own intentions. To attract the desirable outcomes to you, you must regard yourself as being the only person in the universe. As the only thinking being in your subjective universe, only your intentions are important and everything around you needs to be influenced by your thoughts and actions. While this may make the Law of Attraction sound a little selfish, it does allow one to place your mind and focus your thoughts towards a useful goal.

Does the Law of Attraction work? Many people seem to think so and there is no reason why it should not. The main principle behind the idea is more to focus one's attention on thinking about what you want so that you can aim to reach it. Whether or not your thoughts can actually influence the universe to send the things you want your way is open to conjecture but since it is your reality, anything is possible.
